The WBIR family is mourning the loss of anchor Robin Wilhoit's father, Bob Sells.

He lost a long battle with liver cancer on July 25, 2013, with the family he loved by his side.  He was 72.

In 2011, Robin shared the story of her dad's Journey of Faith.  Already fighting the effects of the deadly disease, Robin, her sisters, and mother accompanied Bob on a visit to the Holy Land, to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

We wanted to share his story with you again, in his memory.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Robin and her family during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at James Funeral home in Huntersville, NC.   The internment is Monday at 10:00 am at Mt Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC.   The funeral will be at Davidson College Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm Monday.

The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers to the following organizations:

Original story

(November 23, 2011) A deadly disease has a way of making people take stock of their life and assess the things they've done and still hope to do. Such is the case with my father, Bob Sells.

A cancer diagnosis convinced him NOW was the time to take a trip he only dreamed of taking.

My mother, sisters and I took my dad to the Holy Land.  There, the Bible stories he heard over and over as a child came to life and only strengthened his faith.
