The number of fungal meningitis cases in the United States increased to 170 with 14 deaths, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said today.

That's a 24 percent increase in reported cases since Wednesday's numbers were announced.

In Tennessee, the cases rose to 49 on Wednesday, but no new deaths were reported, the Tennessee Department of Health said.

Idaho was added to the list of states reporting illnesses, bringing the total number to 11 states. However, the recalled medicine was shipped to 23 states.

Florida and Indiana each reported one new death.
