Olympic gold medalist and Knoxville native Davis Tarwater weighed in on childhood obesity Thursday.
The swimmer spoke at a luncheon sponsored by the Knoxville-area Coalition on Childhood Obesity and East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
He talked about the importance of having an outlet to stay healthy and active.
Tarwater also shared how an active lifestyle helped him growing up.
"To share how specifically nutrition impacted my career in terms of moving from an average athlete to a truly elite athlete, and how the changes in my behavior through my career helped ultimately lead me to an Olympic championship."
Tarwater was part of the American team that won the 4x200m relay.
