On Friday, a group of Knox County seniors learned first first-hand the impact of Alzheimer's.

The Halls Senior Center hosted a "Virtual Alzheimer's Tour, which helps seniors understand the mental and physical challenges of Alzheimer's.

Participants' vision, hearing and other senses were distorted, mimicking the disease's effects.

"It gives you a clearer idea of what's going on for an individual with Alzheimer's. We've had some amazing statements at the end. People take it different ways. One lady came in and she said, 'you know, I had no idea. I had no idea what she was going through,'
so it really is an amazing eye opener for families," said Linda Johnson of Alzheimer's Tennessee.

Alzheimer's Tennessee hosted the tour.

Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett also visited with the seniors at the event
