The 13th annual Dumplin Valley Bluegrass Festival continues in Kodak at noon. Friday's entertainment consists of The Little Roy & Lizzy Show, The Crowe Brothers, Balsam Range, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage and more. Tickets are $30 at the door. Visit for more information.

Jackstraw with Redeye will perform on the WDVX Blue Plate Special. The Blue Plate Special takes place every weekday at noon. Head on down to the Knoxville Visitor Center for the free, live broadcast.

The Tennessee Valley Fair continues at Chilhowee Park in East Knoxville. Gates are open from 3 pm until midnight. Night Ranger will headline the night's entertainment. Reserved tickets are $10. Visit for more information.

The Shed at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson presents  John Titlow Band with the Jeff Jopling Band. The show is presented as part of The Shed's "Free Concert Friday" series. The music is set to begin at 6 pm.

The Wild Thyme Players present Duels and Desserts at the World's Fair Park. The Wild Thyme Players have hit upon the odd but surely appealing combination of a stage-combat exhibition and baked-goods sampling and sale. Students from the theater troupe's Shake, Rattle & Role classes will demonstrate various fighting styles and weapons, including broadsword, rapier and dagger, quarterstaff, epee, and unarmed stage combat. As for the taste treats, rumor has it there will be lots of high-level chocolate, real butter, and maybe some cupcakes. Sampling starts at a reception at 6:30 pm. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

Y'uns will perform at the 'Fall Concert Series' at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center. Admission is $5 to the 7 pm performance.

Knox County Public Library presents Movies on Market Square. The event is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your pup to downtown Knoxville and enjoy "Despicable Me". Movies on Market Square runs from 7 pm until 10.

The Clarence Brown Theatre continues its presentation of Sweeney Todd, starring Dale Dickey and Jeff Austin. Adult tickets start at $55, students are between $12 and $20. Show time is set for 7:30 pm. Sweeney Todd is appropriate for high-schoolers and up.

Mike Baldwin will appear a Side Splitters Comedy Club. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Show time is set for 7:45 pm.

The Bijou Theater welcomes Beach House to the US Cellular stage. Tickets are $22 for the 8 pm show. Dustin Wong will open the show.

Brad Blackwell will perform at the Hard Rock Cafe in Gatlinburg. The concert is part of Hard Rock's 'Free Concert Friday'. Music is set to begin at 9 pm.

The Coveralls will perform at Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria. Head on down to the Old City to check out some of you favorite song covers.


Ijams Nature Center invites you to the third annual Tour de Plants. They will be walking and mapping at Ijams Nature Center. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Meet at the Visitors' Center, rain or shine.

The Market Square Farmers' Market opens at 9 am. Grab some cash and bring some friends down to support your local farmers and artisans.

Erin's Meadow and Herb Farm will host the The East Tennessee Herb and Yoga Festival. From 10 am until 6 pm, you can enjoy herbs, yoga, music and dance. There is a $35 fee. For more information visit

You can register for "Ukulele for the Absolute Adult Beginner" at the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center. During the class you will learn how to tune your ukulele, read chord charts, learn several basic chords and strum patterns to get you up and playing. No musical experience necessary, just a willing spirit to have fun. There is a $25 registration fee (additional $10 to rent instrument). For more information The class begins at 10 am.

The Concord PetSafe Dog Park will have a ribbon cutting at 10 am. Mayor Tim Burchett and Randy Boyd, CEO of PetSafe, will officially open the park, and the community is invited to attend and enjoy light refreshments and dog bones for all the furry friends.

The Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center is hosting the Summer Storytelling and Music Festival. Lloyd Arneach, Randy McGinnis and Elizabeth Rose will share Cherokee stories. Admission is $5. The festival begins at 6 pm.

Holy Ghost Tent Revival will perform at Boyd's Jig & Reel. The free show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 pm.
