Live@Five@Four's Erin Donovan and Stoney Sharp brought the purple, green and gold to Market Square in Downtown Knoxville Tuesday.  The two threw beads from the Knoxville Chamber's balcony to people below.

Fat Tuesday is being celebrated across the nation.

It signals the end of Mardi Gras and the beginning of Lent which starts this week on Ash Wednesday.

The Epilepsy Foundation of East Tennessee also showed their Fat Tuesday spirit Tuesday.

The foundation's annual Mardi Gras party is Wednesday night at Crowne Plaza.  The public is invited.  It runs from 6-8:30 p.m.  The cost is $30 per person at the door or $50 for two people.  Children under 12 are free.

Money raised at the party will help fund medical costs for EFET clients who experience seizures and need help paying doctor bills.

EFET said 42,000 people in East Tennessee have a seizure disorder which is the highest rate in the United States.
