Union County teacher Brittany Berry knows how to draw a crowd. On March 15, in front of her entire school, Ms. Berry and other educators kissed a pig and they did it for a good cause.
Nearly 3 years ago Brittany's father, Erwin, was diagnosed with Lymphocyctic Leukemia and Brittany became involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma society's "Light the Night" program in Knoxville.
Brittany and her two best friends, who also have personal connections to Leukemia and Lymphoma, recently formed a Team in Training group to get ready for the "Flying Pig" half marathon this May in Cincinnati, calling themselves "Sole Sisters".
As members of "Team in Training", the participants are required to reach a fundraising goal, for "Sole Sisters" the total was $9,700.
To raise her part of the money, Brittany promised her students at Sharps Chapel ELementary that she would kiss a pig if they helped her raise $1,000 for cancer research. The kids raised over $2,400 and on Friday afternoon, Ms. Brittany kissed that pig!
