On March 22, 2013 first grade students at Green Magnet Math & Science Academy signed copies of books they helped to write and illustrate.
Each first grade class created one book with each of the students in the class writing and illustrating one of the pages.
The students starting working on the books in January, the book titles ranged from "All About Me" to "Letters to Mom".
"When we brought the books and they came in the UPS box, they couldn't wait for us to open the box and see the pictures and all the hard work that went into it," said first grade teacher Glenda Fleming.
The students also presented a book to an employee of East Tennessee Children's Hospital as a way of thanking them for a donation of school supplies.
