There's a new cantina in town.. well, for the folks over near Cedar Bluff and Kingston Pike at least.
Salsaritas is opening Wednesday and so they sent their corporate chef Tom LaFauci to the new location to share kitchen knowledge with us.
First Tom made guacamole. I pretty much wanted to jump into the bowl. He says to find a ripe avocado that is soft to the touch. he used an avocado and a half for out demonstration.you can check out the video to your right.
The Tom made some salsa charro. It's one of their signature salsas. Take some regular tomatoes and roast them. You can do this if your oven gets super duper hot or you can take them out to the grill. Just make sure you leave the char on there Tom says it holds most of the flavor. Notice I said char, not burnt to a crisp pieces.
Both of these dishes look easy to make so somewhere in East Tennessee I'll be trying it out.
The Salsarita's will open at 11 am Wednesday, May 15.
