Former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen said we all need to demand for a reduction in the federal deficit.
Bredesen met with reporters this week on behalf of "Fix the Debt." The national bipartisan campaign's mission is to reduce the federal debt by $4 trillion over 10 years.
The group's method would be a combination of higher taxes and changes in entitlement programs.
Bredesen, a Democrat, served two terms as governor. He said the group has avoided taking sides in the so-called "fiscal cliff" discussion and cautioned against reading too much into statements politicians are making.
The former governor said more substantive arguments about the size of the deficit will come this spring.
