Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee Ron Ramsey said he will support a bill next session, which would allow wine sales in supermarkets.

Right now, wine can only be sold in liquor stores. Bills supporting wine sales in grocery stores have crossed lawmakers' desks several times over the years, but there was never enough votes to pass a law. Lawmakers head back to Nashville the second week in January, and this bill will definitely be up for discussion.

Ramsey said this bill could allow liquor stores to sell more items that were previously banned as well.

"The time has come to make sure this bill passes. I'm in favor of it. It's an economic development issue in my opinion," said Ramsey. "It's an issue to bring more sales tax into the state of Tennessee. It will put us on par with surrounding states like Virginia and North Carolina."
