Amazon officially opened its new distribution center in middle Tennessee on Friday.
State and local lawmakers gathered at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Murfreesboro for the grand opening ceremony. Construction on the site, located on Joe B. Jackson Parkway, started a little more than a year ago.
According to 10News partners at WSMV in Nashville, the facility will create 1,100 jobs, and it's expected to pump millions of dollars into the local economy.
Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioners Bill Hagerty said Tennessee is fourth in the nation in manufacturing growth and number one in the southeast.
