A FOX News report says Regal Cinemas is cutting back on hours for thousands of its employees due to Affordable Care Act requirements.

The report says Regal rolled back shifts for non-salary workers to less than 30 hours a week. That's because employees who work more than 30 hours could be considered full-time, meaning the company would have to provide pay for their health insurance under the act.

The Knoxville Chamber says it has not heard anything about Regal's specific situation, but it says the decision to cut part-time hours will vary from company to company.

"They just have to look at it from their individual perspective and see what's going to happen. I think you're likely to see more companies continue to make decisions like this," said Rhonda Rice.

10News contacted Regal Cinemas about the reported cuts. Regal's Vice President of Communications Russ Nunley said the company has no comment at this time.
