We've had some big announcements recently in the auto industry in East Tennessee.

Just last week, Volkswagen opened a $40 million facility in Roane County to distribute parts for its Passat. The new facility is about 80 miles from VW's assembly plant in Chattanooga.

Nissan also announced last week it's adding 800 jobs to its Smyrna plant, where production on its Rogue is expected to being this fall.

Rhonda Rice from the Knoxville Chamber joined us in the 10News studio to discuss how plants like this have a major impact on our region. You can watch that entire conversation in the video above.
