The cost to insure your teen driver is going up. New statistics out this week show in some states adding a teenager to your auto insurance policy can double your premium.
According to a study by InsuranceQuotes.com, auto insurance premiums increase on average 84 percent when a teenager is added to the policy. The highest increase was in Arkansas at 116 percent.
According to the study, the premium increase for adding a teen driver in Tennessee was about 96 percent. The smallest increase was in Hawaii at 18 percent.
