(WBIR-Maryville) An employer announced Wednesday it's moving to Blount County, bringing more than 100 jobs to the area.
Surface Igniter, LLC officials announced the company will relocate its headquarters and manufacturing facility to Maryville, investing $3.8 million and creating 108 jobs over the next three years.
The company is a leading manufacturer of hot surface igniters for heating, cooking, clothes dryer and BBQ grill industries. It will begin production immediately in the 55,000-square foot Blount County Industrial Park in Maryville with 54 employees. Blount Partnership Communications Director Jeff Muir said in a release that the company expect to double its number of jobs to 108 within the next three years.

Gov. Bill Haslam said in a release that Surface Igniter's decision to relocate their business from Puerto Rico to Tennessee indicates the state is a great place for businesses.
"Recruiting and investing in our state's key clusters, where we have a clear competitive advantage, is an important part of our Jobs4TN plan, and today's announcement helps us toward our goal of becoming the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs," said Haslam.
Surface Igniter, LLC is consolidating and moving to Maryville from two locations: Puerto Rico, which housed production facilities; and Chagrin Falls, Ohio, which served as the company's headquarters, warehousing and distribution. The company will now lease 54,000 square feet of space at 1709 Henry G. Lane Drive in Maryville.
