In the halls of William McKinley High, the grid iron and glee club clash, but not in the Rivera family. While oldest daughter, Naya, plays Santana Lopez in the hit musical comedy drama, Glee; her brother, Mychal Rivera, makes plays as tight end for the Tennessee Vols.
"We're starting to get used to it," says Mychal. "This is her first real time to shine."
The Los Angeles native couldn't be prouder of his big sister.
"I think her first role was at age 2 or 3. She's had guest appearances in 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air,' 'Family Matters,' all kids of shows."
But landing the role of Santana Lopez, a Cheerio and New Direction member, has been her big break!
"I didn't think she could dance that well."
Word of his super star sister has quickly gotten around the practice field. Mychal's convinced some of his teammates are secret gleeks. "A lot of them don't like to admit they watch the show, but I think some of them do."
There's not a lot sibling rivalry between the two- considering they don't share talent. "I try to sing in front of her and she laughs at me. It's the joke of the day!"
However, they do keep score.
"She's blown me out the water as of right now. I'm hopefully waiting to go to the NFL and blow her out the water."
From the football field to center stage, these siblings are making their mark and keeping success all in the family.
"She's just making me and my family really proud. We're just really happy for her."
