Six charged after meth lab bust in Blount County

Six people were charged in connection with a meth lab that was found in a residence Sunday night.

Deputies with the Blount County Sheriff's Office, along with investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force responded to the residence on Wildwood Road shortly before 9 p.m.

When they arrived, they found ten people inside the residence, and the "gasser" portion of the meth lab was still emanating fumes into the house.

The home was vented and everyone inside was decontaminated.

Charged were: Edward Ross Maples, 30, Hollybrook Road, Rockford, charged with initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine; Russell Sterling McGhee, 55, Wildwood Road, Maryville, charged with maintaining a dwelling where controlled substances are being used, sold, and manufactured; Reinaldo Velasquez, 26, Wildwood Road, Maryville, charged with initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine; Christine Charlene Poole, 31, Eighth Street, Maryville, charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine; Brooke Adale Helton, 26, Tarbet Road, Rockford, outstanding warrants for misdemeanor violation of probations x 3; Vicki Stephens Berry, 49, Garner Circle, Maryville, charged with violation of probation x 2 

Everyone else was released from the scene after decontamination. The residence was quarantined, and may not be entered again until it is properly assessed and cleaned by an industrial hygienist.

The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force responded and took custody of all lab components once investigators stabilized the materials.

Emergency crews in Blount County work to decontaminate several people found at an active meth lab, Sunday night.

It's at a home on Wildwood Road near Maryville.

Police were responding to a nearby breaking and entering call when the discovered the lab in the basement of the home around 8 p.m.

Shortly after, they began decontaminating then people on the scene.

Officials have not released how many people will be charged and they say this isn't the first time the home has been searched.

There was a separate search warrant on the home a  month ago.
