A Grainger County grand jury has handed up 55 drug indictments as part of "Operation Grainger Strike."
The indictments stem from an undercover drug sting, according to a release from Grainger County Sheriff Scott Layel.
"Operation Grainger Strike" is a joint effort among the Grainger County Sheriff's Office, 4th Judicial Drug Task Force and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The drug round-up is set to begin this week.
Sheriff Layel reports that the latest indictments mean the county has surpassed the 1,300-mark in drug charges. That includes indictments from the previous effort, "Operation Take Back Grainger."
"The effort between agencies and Grainger citizens has proven to be more fruitful than I ever imagined," Sheriff Layel said. "By combining agencies and the support of the community, we are making a difference."
