Cocke County Elections Commissioner, Dan Ford, faces a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit.
The parents of 21-year-old Katelin Richardson are suing Ford, his wife, the state, the Department of Transportation and the manufacturer of her bike, Pacific Cycle, Inc. for $11 million in damages.
Katelin Richardson was hit and killed while riding her bike last July in Cocke County. She is originally from Vermont, but was working as a rafting guide in Tennessee over the summer.
Cocke County Elections Commissioner, Dan Ford, is accused of hitting Richardson. He is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, DUI and reckless vehicular homicide.
Ford's attorney is claiming that Richardson was in the middle of a dark road the night she was stuck.
Ford's trial is set for October of this year.
