A Karns teenager died Friday from injuries in a crash that happened Thursday.

Coger Robertson, 15, was a sophomore at Karns High School, according to his father Barry Robertson.

The wreck happened on West Emory Road near the intersection of Copper Head Road in the Karns community at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

THP's incident report shows Robertson was driving a Kawasaki ZC4 motorcycle.  THP said he was driving east on West Emory Road when he started to pass a Ford Explorer.  The SUV then turned left into a private driveway, and the motorcycle crashed into the side of the SUV.  Both vehicles ran off the road before the SUV to hit a utility pole.

Robertson died at UT Medical Center on Friday morning.  The driver of the SUV also sustained injuries.

Karns High School students said the administration announced his death over the intercom Friday at school.  Hundreds of students gathered in the library where there were grief counselors on hand.

"As soon as they said 'Coger Robertson' you heard the heart break. It was obivous he was a loved person by everyone," said Savannah Lynnswaggerty, Coger's friend.

Dozens of Robertson's friends gathered at the site of the crash Friday afternoon for a vigil.  They placed a cross memorial on the roadside, along with flowers and balloons.  Many of the students took turns sharing memories.

"Being here with everyone who loves Coger, has really helped everyone to realize that he's in a better place," said Kayla Thornton, Coger's friend.

Mr. Robertson said Coger was on the swim team and played both the classical guitar and cello in the Karns High School Orchestra.

He said that Coger was an organ donor.  His organs are expected to help 7 or 8 people.
