Monday was an exciting day for some East Tennesseans as they took part in the inaugural parade in Washington D.C.

Among them was UT freshman Lauren Stevens. We spoke to her last week about representing the southeast as part of the Canine Companions organization.

Lauren's brother lives with a service dog donated by that group, and Monday their family marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in the parade.

A little earlier in the parade was the marching band from Dobyns Bennett High School near the tri-cities. Band members have been preparing for weeks for the festivities.

Before the president took the oath of office, 200 singers from an East Tennessee university serenaded thousands of spectators.

The Lee University Choir from Cleveland sang the Chattanooga Choo Choo and patriotic songs. The choir, which includes some native East Tennesseans, was chosen to perform at the inauguration over 10,000 other choirs.
