There are several gun measures in the state legislature right now, many as a result of the Connecticut shooting and its aftermath, but Governor Haslam says only one gun bill in particular is getting a lot of attention.

That proposal would allow gun permit holders to keep their weapons in their cars no matter where they're parked.

Haslam said in the past that he doesn't want gun legislation bogging down the Legislature's agenda. He says that's not happening this year.

"It's a small part of what's being focused on. Again, my point has always been the things that Tennesseans talk to me about do not really focus on gun legislation. They focus on what can we do to make sure our kids have better education opportunities, what are we going to do about job opportunities around the state, and how do we run the state for the future?" said Gov. Haslam.

Haslam also said he believes the 'guns in parking lots' bill will move through the House quickly. It has already passed the Senate.
