Maryville College now has some tech-savvy tables that use the charge from the sun to help charge electronics.
Michigan-based Ener-Fusion installed two Solar Doks on campus Friday.
The tables have outlets, as well as USB ports, all powered by the sun.
One Maryville College professor says the tables are already drawing lots of attention from students.
"They're becoming more and more common but it's still something that surprises people when they come on campus. The students have been excited as they've been walking through today to see the use of the solar panels that you don't see on campus everyday," said Adrienne Schwarte.
Each of the solar docks has three 45-watt solar panels and one 100-watt panel.
Maryville College is the first Tennessee college or university to have these solar powered picnic tables.
