This week, the Tennessee Valley Authority is celebrating 80 years in operation.

The federally owned corporation serves seven states. If its customer base for electricity was a city, it would be the largest in the nation at 9 million. That's one million more than New York City.

President Obama has proposed the utility be sold to help cut the national debt. Senator Lamar Alexander says that option is "ill-conceived and reckless."

TVA's new CEO has been at the top since the start of the year. Bill Johnson is a lawyer and a veteran of the utility business.

He joined us in the 10News studio to talk about issues facing TVA. You can watch that entire conversation in the video above.
