A man wanted for the murder of his bride in Pigeon Forge has been located and arrested in Athens.

Pigeon Forge Chief Jack Baldwin said Brian Humphrey, 34, was arrested in Athens Tuesday afternoon.

Baldwin said Humphrey will be charged with murder, though it may not be first degree murder, as investigators are not sure the stabbing death of his wife, Cassandra M. Petry, was premeditated.

Investigators have been told that Humphrey and Petry, 36, were married once before, divorced, and remarried. They were on their honeymoon in Pigeon Forge. Officials have not yet confirmed the re-marriage aspect of the story through official records.

Police found Petry dead in a room at the Days Inn on the Parkway around 11:30 Monday night. Her sister had called police, requesting they check on her. Petry's sister said she hadn't heard from Petry in more than 24 hours and that she could not reach her via cell phone or on the hotel phone.

As Pigeon Forge Police try to track down the husband of a woman found dead in a Days Inn motel room, there are indications he may have gone to McMinn County.

Cassandra M. Petry, 36, was found dead at the Days Inn on the Parkway. Investigators believe she died of stab wounds. She was found around 11:30 Monday night.

She had been with her husband in Pigeon Forge on their honeymoon. Pigeon Forge Police have been told the couple had been married once, divorced, and remarried each other. That has not yet been confirmed by official records.

Now, police want to question her husband, 34-year-old Brian Humphrey. Authorities said Umphrey was spotted in McMinn County Tuesday morning. Pigeon Forge has two officers down there now.

Authorities said previously they believed him to be in the Rockwood or Athens area.

Umphrey is believed to be driving Petry's vehicle, a white Dodge Durango with Titans license plate TF8619.

Anyone with information on Umphrey's whereabouts is asked to call your local law enforcement agency or the Pigeon Forge Police Department at 865-453-9063.
