WBIR-TV joined WTNZ-TV on Monday in announcing a partnership that will soon mean more local news in East Tennessee from 10News.

WBIR will begin producing newscasts for Fox 43, including an expanded 10:00 p.m. newscast on weeknights and local news from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. weekdays.

The partnership also means that all 10News and Fox 43 newscasts will soon be produced in High Definition.

WBIR will begin producing a half-hour version of the 10:00 p.m. news by late March.

The expansion of the 10:00 p.m. weeknight news on Fox 43 to one hour will happen later in the spring, as will the addition of the two-hour weekday morning newscast beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Fox 43.  The Fox 43 weekend 10:00 p.m. news will be a half hour newscast.

The switch to HD newscasts on both stations is expected to happen when the expanded and additional newscasts launch on Fox 43.

WBIR will also continue to produce the same amount of local content on Channel 10, soon bringing the total amount of local news produced by 10News to nine hours on weekdays.

Watch for more details soon about the transition to 10News in HD and the expansion of news on Fox 43.
