The massive rockslide that shut down Interstate 40 in 2010 is still having an impact on the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; at least on its visitation numbers.

This April, the Smokies saw another sharp drop in the amount of cars going through the park down more than 18 percent compared to last April.

For the year, cars entering the park are down more than nine percent.

But again this year's numbers are down because 2010 saw a lot more traffic in the park than usual. That's when tons of rock closed I-40 in North Carolina for several months near the Tennessee state line.

The road-block funnelled heavy traffic through the park on Newfound Gap road as drivers tried to get around the rockslide.
