They are probably the most popular piece of clothing in Knoxville, with more than 15,000 likes on Facebook and counting. Coach Derek Dooley's now famous orange pants are all the rage here in Vol country.

He wore the pants for the first time two weeks ago in the Vols season opened against Montana. He then appeared in them once again last week.

The folks behind the pants at John H. Daniel put a lot of work into making sure the pants turned out just right. The tailors looked around until they found two yards of woven wool in England and dyed it three times to get the exact color of UT orange.

"We took it in his closet and we matched it to the rest of his game gear, and I said, 'Are you sure this is... spot on?" So we ran with it. Like I said, we're waiting for the mill to open back up so we can dye some more cloth, so if he needs more, we'll be able to produce them for him," said Joe Taylor of John H. Daniel Clothing.

John H. Daniel is not selling the pants to anyone except Dooley, but Joe Taylor said other retailers offer "off-the-rack" orange pants. Coach Dooley said his attention is focused on preparing for Florida this week, not his pants.

John Taylor of John H. Daniel said they are getting in orange cotton material for the fans' orange pants. They will also be getting in more material similar to the Dooley pants for people who want that style.
