The Transportation Security Administration celebrated its 10 year anniversary since it began operations at McGhee Tyson Airport on Monday.
TSA marked the decade of service with a ceremony starting at noon at the airport. At this event, TSA officers re-affirmed their federal employee oath of office. Several officers were recognized for their 10 years of service with the agency during this ceremony as well.
This agency was created after the events of September 11, 2001, in order to strengthen the country's transportation system and national security. TSA is in charge of security at U.S. airports and screens commercial airline passengers and baggage. TSA began its operations at McGhee Tyson Airport on September 10, 2002.
