The National Night Out website says the event is designed to:

* Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
* Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
* Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

Buddy Walk

The Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East Tennessee will host the 16th annual Knoxville Buddy Walk to promote the acceptance of all people with Down syndrome.
This year's event will again be held on October 7 at Knoxville's World's Fair Park near downtown Knoxville.

Local children and adults with Down syndrome, their families and designated "buddies," and many other local supporters will participate in the Buddy Walk, which begins at World's Fair Park on October 7 at 1 p.m. and continues throughout the afternoon until around 4 p.m. The walk will wind its way through World's Fair Park (rain or shine!) and conclude with various entertainment, exhibits, food, a silent auction, prizes and more for participants to enjoy at the walk's conclusion.

Dinosaur Exhibit

October 1 - January 6, 2013 at American Museum of Science & Energy
"Be The Dinosaur: Life in the Crustaceous" traveling exhibition to discover the science of dinosaurs and their ecosystems as you walk in their footsteps, hunt, eat, hide and survive by using computer simulation and interactive exhibits. AMSE Second Level.
