Farragut fights for its playoff life against Lenoir City in the USA Today High School Sports Game of the Week.
The Admirals are 3-5 overall and are ranked No. 38 in the 6A playoff rankings. The top 32 teams make the postseason. Farragut needs wins in its final two games to have a shot at a playoff berth.
Lenoir City stands in Farragut's way this week. The Panthers (7-1, 4-1) are hunting down the District 4-AAA runner-up spot. Lenoir City picked up a huge 42-27 win over West two weeks ago.
On the north side of town, Fulton welcomes Alcoa to its new stadium. After an 8-5 season last year that snapped their streak of seven straight state championships the Tornadoes are back on track with a 7-1 record this year.
Fulton has looked like one of the best teams in the state, smashing nearly every opponent in its path. The Falcons entered Week 8 tied atop the District 4-AA standings with Carter. Fulton dismantled the Hornets 53-0.
Two of the IMACs top teams will battle in South Knoxville. Sevier County holds the top spot in the standings at 5-0 (7-1 overall) and they will travel to South-Doyle (7-1, 4-1) for a game that will likely decide the IMAC champion.
The Cherokees are anchored by a stout defensive line and have allowed an average of less than eight points per game, tops in the conference. The Smoky Bears are powered by the best passing attack in the conference and average a district-best 39.5 points scored per game.
