Christmas is a time when people from a variety of backgrounds join in the celebration of the birth of Christ.

But for a family in Farragut, religious diversity is a part of daily life.

The Margulies family lights up both a menorah and an Advent wreath every holiday season.

Imelda Margulies grew up Catholic while her husband, Aaron, is Jewish.

"I'm sure my parents were very much like, 'Why aren't you marrying someone Catholic?' But we were in love and we said it's going to work," Imelda said.

They decided to raise their four kids Jewish, but they still include pieces of Imelda's faith and celebrate all the Christian and Jewish holidays.

"The difficulties come when it's time to pray to God and trying to decide which faith to pray to God," Aaron said.

However, their daughter Rachel, 12, says, "I love my family and I'm really glad that I get to share these things with them."

Imelda went on to say, "Love and respect. Being able to admire each other and see the beauty of each of our faiths and bringing that to our family. I think that God brought us together for a reason."

The family attended mass at All Saints Catholic Parish on Christmas Eve.
