A Chattanooga woman is accused of hitting her 73-year-old roommate in the head with a crowbar, killing him.
It's a shock to friends and neighbors, who say the suspect is confined to a wheelchair and doesn't have legs.
Chattanooga police arrested 48-year-old Laura Morgan Saturday. She's charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in the death of James Masingill.
Morgan has a criminal history that includes several prostitution and drug arrests.
Neighbors say Masingill took her in to try and help her turn her life around. Now, they're calling for justice.
"He was a real nice guy. He's helped her out as much as he could. I'm all for the death penalty. Somebody that causes such a brutal murder, I don't think they deserve anything less," said William Roper.
Friends say Masingill lived alone for decades before opening his home to Morgan.
Morgan is scheduled to appear in court next week.
