The new kids on the block aim to score big at tonight's 55th Grammy Awards (CBS, 8 p.m. ET/tape delay PT).

Burgeoning R&B sensation Frank Ocean and pop group fun., both up for best new artist, record of the year and album of the year, are the rookies to watch at the ceremony, airing live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and hosted for a second year by LL Cool J.

British singer Adele had her hands full with six Gramophone trophies last year, and six artists have the potential to match that total if they sweep their categories: Ocean, fun., Kanye West, Mumford & Sons, Jay-Z and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys lead all nominees with six nods each.

Ocean's Channel Orange and fun.'s Some Nights are in the album-of-the-year mix with Mumford & Sons' Babel, the Black Keys' El Camino and Jack White's Blunderbuss. Their hits - Ocean's Thinkin Bout You and fun.'s We Are Young - compete in the record category alongside the Black Keys' Lonely Boy, Kelly Clarkson's Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You), Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know.

Ocean and fun. also lead the pack for best new artist, but Hunter Hayes, The Lumineers and Alabama Shakes hope for an Esperanza Spalding-esque upset.

An impressive list of live performances is on tap. Justin Timberlake, who just released his new single Suit & Tie, returns to the stage, and students from Newtown, Conn., will sing Carly Rae Jepsen's ubiquitous hit Call Me Maybe, up for best song along with Stronger, We Are Young, Miguel's Adorn and Ed Sheeran's The A Team.

There are also a bunch of superstar team-ups planned, including Elton John and pop youngster Sheeran, Maroon 5 and Alicia Keys, Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley joining forces for an all-star country duo, a Bob Marley tribute featuring Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Sting, and a salute to the late Levon Helm with John, Mumford & Sons, Zac Brown, Mavis Staples and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes.
