For the first time, Powell residents will hear from the developers who want to transform the old airport site into a shopping center.

Kroger has announced plans to build a store on the property, which is located just off I-75 on Emory Road.  That land has been prone to flooding, and neighbors have expressed concern that those water problems could be pushed onto their property.

On Monday, February 18, Knox County Commissioner R. Larry Smith says Kroger officials will hold a meeting with nearby homeowners to talk about the plans.  Smith says they will address the flooding concerns.

The meeting is set for 6:00 pm at Tennova's North Knoxville Medical Center.  It will be in the Sister Elizabeth Room on the second floor.  The meeting is open to the public.
