This weekend, thousands of runners and walkers will take part in the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon.
More than 6,000 adults and kids are already signed up, and race organizers say with last-minute registration, they could see up to 8,000. That would be the biggest turn-out ever for the Knoxville Marathon.
The ninth annual race will also look a little different than in years past.
"We've added a two-person relay, we've also added our Pilot Flying J post-race party; it will be in the concourse of Neyland Stadium. Out on the course, we have our first ever competitors in the wheelchair division, which is very exciting. We have three gentlemen doing that," said Jason Altman.
Things get underway Saturday with the Health and Fitness Expo at the Convention Center, and the kids run. You can still sign up for the races at the expo.
The marathon, half marathon, and 5K are Sunday morning.
