The TBI is criticizing a series of reports by a Nashville TV station in the Holly Bobo disappearance case.
News media statewide have reported extensively on the search for the 20-year-old, who went missing from her Decatur County home two years ago.
The NBC station in Nashville, WSMV, recently aired a series of reports that appeared to update the investigation and the circumstances surrounding Bobo's disappearance.
But in a press release Friday, the TBI called the reports "erronious" and "irresponsible." It said the station used false information from a private detective group in its reporting, and did not confirm the information with investigations.
WSMV responded in a statement of its own, saying the TBI has been unwilling to comment for its reports, even though they've been airing for weeks. The station also says it is committed to accurate reporting and is happy to review the concerns raised by the TBI.
