Twinkie Cake recipe from Lulu's Tea Room

Cake Ingredients

2 Duncan Hines Butter Golden Cake Mixes
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 sticks of butter (softened)


Mix well and pour into four (4) 9" baking pans that have been sprayed well and lined with wax or parchment paper. Bake according to directions and let cool.

Filling Ingredients

1 8oz. Cream Cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
12 oz. cool whip


Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar well, add cool whip.
Spread 1/3 mixture between each cake layer.

Icing Ingredients

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet morsels
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 stick butter
1 8 oz. cream cheese
7 cups powdered sugar


In a saucepan, melt morsels and whipping cream on medium heat until well blended. Remove from heat and cool 30 minutes.
In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese and powdered sugar well. Mix this with chocolate mixture and add 7 cups powdered sugar 1 at a time.
