(WBIR - Knoxville) Skilled craftsworkers from across Tennessee took out the sewing machines on Sunday in an effort to honor some of our nation's veterans.
A handful of quilters attended a sew-in Sunday to put some work in on their quilts that will be given to the 79 living Congressional Medal of Honor recipients.
Each of the veterans who have received the prestigious militiary honor will be in Knoxville in September 2014 for the Congressional Medal of Honor Convention.
All of the volunteer quilters were encouraged to do a little research on their particular soldier and incorporate significant motifs in their quilt.
One of the project's organizers said they've already received the first two completed quilts.
