(WBIR, Lenoir City) - She responded quickly to a woman in anaphylactic shock, a situation that could have been deadly.
Tuesday the Loudon County Sheriff's Office and Project Lifesaver honored Florence Parker for her quick action a few months ago by giving her the Medal of Merit Award.
Parker is a volunteer for Project Lifesaver, an organization that helps locate missing individuals with dementia or alzheimers.
Each client has a bracelet, and the batteries have to be changed once a month.
Parker and her partner were checking in on a client when they may have saved her life.
"Without us going into the home and insisting in the most gentle way that someone is going to give these people peace of mind, we can't be successful at anything," said Parker.
When a Project Lifesaver client wanders away and becomes lost, Project Lifesaver offers help to find them by working with local authorities.
