Acting is an art form rooted in expression and one that resides in all of us, whether we know it or not. That is part of the reason Carolyn Corley helped start "Act Up", a series of weekly drop in classes for artists of any experience level.
Participants cover a wide range of skill sets: everything from acting basics, behind the scenes work to staged combat and puppet theater. Carolyn says that the goal of Act Up is two fold.
"Primarily we want to reach out to Knoxville's latent talent, those seeking to break into Knoxville's diverse theater arts community and then we also want to provide a forum for established artists to share their wisdom, develop teaching skills and promote their own companies, programs and projects."
If you are interested in taking a class, the group meets most Sundays at the Broadway Academy of Performing Arts located at 706 N. Broadway. For more information on prices and times, go to www.wildthymeplayers.org
