Knox Heritage has launched a new campaign to help preserve the history and restore the historic Westwood house.
The Victorian-style home on Kingston Pike in West Knoxville was built in 1890.
Already, Knox Heritage has raised $1 million dollars of its 3 million dollar goal to renovate the property. It's asking for the public's help to get the rest of the funding. Knox Heritage gave its last tours of the home on Tuesday, and officially closed it for renovations.
"There will be a lot of site work in order to make the place accessible to the public and handicapped accessible, and then there will be a complete restoration of the house. It's an amazing place right now and once we shine it up and get all the latest modern systems in it it will be a great place for another generation," said Knox Heritage's Kim Trent.
Knox Heritage says construction will start in September. The home should reopen in the spring.
