(WBIR-Oak Ridge) Leaders say three buses added to the transportation system in Oak Ridge is a big investment.
The buses, which are handled by the East Tennessee Human Resource Agency, will be on the road in the coming weeks. According to the city, ETHRA has been with Oak Ridge for at least two decades.
The new buses will help continue public transportation for residents. Leaders stressed the service is available for everyone.
"You can go anywhere as far as shopping, you can take business trips, if you have medical appointments, if you want to visit friends. You do need to make appointments or reservations, 24 hours in advance," said Athanasia Lewis, the Community Development Specialist with Oak Ridge.
Fares are currently $1.50 to use the ETHRA bus. It will go to $2.00 by November.
Reservations can be made by calling (865) 482-2785.
