(WBIR-Knoxville) A late night argument in northwest Knoxville escalated into a stabbing, sending one man to the hospital and another to jail.
The girlfriend of the victim called police shortly before 11:20 p.m., reporting that a man stabbed her boyfriend inside their home. She told officers her boyfriend, Carl Trentham Jr., 56, and a neighbor, James Rochester, 46, had been drinking all evening. When she asked Rochester to leave, an argument broke out. According to the victim and his girlfriend, Rochester waved a knife and threatened to cut the victim's girlfriend. Trentham intervened and sustained a wound his upper abdomen.
Police took Rochester into custody at his home and charged him with two counts of aggravated assault.
First responders drove Trentham to UT Medical Center. The KPD police report confirmed Trentham was alert and conscious at the scene, but his condition is unknown at this time.
