Class is back in session at UT, and that means better business at the strip.
Businesses said this is the busiest time of year for them. The excitement between returning to school and the upcoming football season brings an influx of students to Cumberland Avenue.
Major developments are on the horizon for the area too. There are plans to open a hotel, a new student housing complex, and other retailers like Walmart and Publix.
One area employee has mixed feelings about the projects.
"Well at first it might cut a little bit of business, but afterwards I think it will be way more pedestrian friendly so, I think that it will boost business after," said Darrah Saare, a bartender at Tin Roof.
The University of Tennessee is welcoming more than 3,000 new students this year.
