K9 Cancer Walk

Animal lovers can help the fight against cancer cancer at the third annual PetSafe K9 Cancer Walk on Sunday, Sept. 22 at The Cove at Concord Park.

The walk and opening ceremony begin at 1 p.m. 

Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 10-17. Children under the age of 10 can participate for free. There is a "sit and stay" option for those who want to help with the event but can't be present for the walk. All participants will receive a free T-shirt.

The proceeds benefit the Morris Animal Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve veterinary care for pets, horses and wildlife.

Connie's Kitchen

Connie's Kitchen is located at 10231 Chapman Highway, Seymour, TN 37865.

The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday and closed on Mondays.

Music on the Town

Dandridge will host Music on the Town concerts each Thursday night in September.

The free live concerts are held behind the town hall. Guests should bring a lawn chair to enjoy the show. Concert goers also are encouraged to bring a canned food donation that will be given to a local food pantry.

The music starts at 7 p.m. Food vendors are available.

WDVX World Class Bluegrass

WDVX will host its next World Class Bluegrass Show on Friday, Sept. 6 as part of downtown Knoxville's First Friday activities.

The free concert will take place on the Market Square Stage starting at 6 p.m.

The line-up includes the Lonesome River Band, Roddy Branch Reunion and Grassroots Gringos.

The concert is family-friendly. Guests should bring a lawn chair to enjoy the music on the square.

Southern Belle's Closet

Southern Belle's Closet is the only consignment sale in Knoxville specifically for formal wear.

Girls' and women's formal wear in good condition and current styles are accepted. Examples include: wedding gowns, bridal accessories and shoes, wedding decorations, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses, prom and pageant dresses, evening and ball gowns, sorority formal gowns, cotillion and debutante dresses, black tie and party dresses, cocktail dresses, special occasion dresses, quinceanera and sweet 16 dresses, tuxedos, formal accessories and jewelry, designer shoes and designer handbags.

The deadline to register as a consignor is Monday, Sept. 9. There is a $10 registration fee. Consignors set their own prices and receive at least 70 percent of the sales. Volunteering at the sale can increase the profit margin.

Drop-off appointments will be scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8 and Monday, Sept. 9.

The sale kicks off with a private pre-sale event on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. The sale is open to the public on Friday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Designated dresses will be 50 percent off on the last day. 

Consignors can choose to have their dresses donated to charity after the sale or pick them up. They must be picked up between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15.
