A Hawkins County teenager charged with killing his grandparents and who tried to escape from a juvenile detention jail.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's website, Fannin was transferred to the jail this week. Officials confirmed to 10News that Fannin was now being held in there.

Fannin is charged as an adult in the April 2010 murders of his grandparents.  He was 16 when the crime  happened.   Autopsy results showed Clyde Fannin had over 20 gunshots to the head and Linda Fannin had at least 17 stab wounds and several fractured bones.

Fannin had been held in the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Service Center in Knoxville. Hawkins County does not have a suitable facility to house Fannin.  On New Year's Day, Fannin attacked a guard in an attempt to escape.

The facility's director, Richard Bean, said other inmates informed his officers that Fannin had been doing pushups in his room to prepare for the escape.
