Storm damage reported in west, middle Tennessee

Storm reports are coming in from Middle and West Tennessee, as a severe weather system marches across the state.

Major damage has been reported in downtown Hendersonville, just after 3 pm.

Dispatchers in Humphreys County said that the Main Street in downtown Waverly has major damage. They said that several buildings along that street were damaged by storms at about 1:30 p.m..

The National Weather Service has received reports of at least two tornadoes and one funnel cloud in the Nashville area.

Callers reported a tornado one mile west of the CoolSprings Mall about 2:10 p.m.

A second caller reported another tornado near Dickson, according to Brittney Whitehead with the National Weather Service.

She said a funnel cloud was also spotted five miles southeast of Nashville near Percy Priest Lake.

Damage has been reported in Centennial Park and Bluefield Road and Donelson Pike.

The Nashville Electric Service is reporting more than 58,000 customers without power on its website. 

The Weather Service also reported pea-sized hail around Lipscomb University and there is scattered wind damage throughout the region

Storm damage in Kentucky

Hopkinsville police said there was storm damage and seven people injured around noon at the Tg Automotive Sealing Kentucky (TGASK) on Frank Yost Boulevard in Christian County, Ky.

Paul Ray with the Hopkinsville Police Department said those injured sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

All 184 TGASK employees are accounted. All operations were shut down and utilities were turned off at the plant. TGASK employee Calvin Brown said he was thrown against a wall during storm. Brown said he was on a forklift when the storm hit.

Ray said there was a lot of structural damage to the facility, which manufactures weather sealing components for vehicles. The plant opened in Hopkinsville in 2003.
