One of the dump trucks involved in a head-on collision on Raccoon Valley Rd. Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
Two people went to the hospital overnight following a head-on collision between two dump trucks in Knox County.
Rural-Metro says the accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Raccoon Valley Road near the Anderson County line.
Crews had to call in the heavy rescue squad in order to get one of the drivers out. He went to UT Medical Center via Lifestar.
An ambulance took the other driver to the hospital.
Authorities on the scene say both men did not have any life threatening injuries.
Right now Racoon Valley Road is closed in both directions as a result of the accident.
They hope to have the road back open by 7:00 a.m.
The trucks were owned by the same company, which was doing some over-night road repair work on Interstate 75 near Emory Road.
Hazmat was called in because close to 150 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled into a near-by creek.
